About the Tenants Union
The mission of the Tenants Union (TU) is to create housing justice through grassroots education, organizing and advocacy. Founded in 1977, the Tenants Union carries on a proud legacy of empowerment based education and powerful grassroots organizing. Our work creates concrete improvements in tenants’ living conditions and challenges and transforms unjust housing policies and practices. We achieve organizing victories through outreach, training, leadership development, strategic analysis, creative direct action and legislative advocacy.
The TU's work is grounded in the strong conviction that tenants must be the leaders of efforts to transform our housing conditions and communities. The work of the TU is led and supported by hundreds of members statewide. In our work the TU embraces the values of equality, equity, hope, sustainability, respect, grassroots leadership, dignity, direct action, civic courage, self-determination, anti-racism and anti-oppression.

New Tenant Service Hours Take Effect Monday, May 17th.
To better serve you, please note that our hours have changed as of Monday, May 17, 2010:
- Hotline services are available Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 11am to 1pm. Call 206-723-0500.
- Walk-in services are available Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 2pm to 4pm. For walk-in service, please arrive by 3:30 pm.

Tenants Union Testifies in Support of New 30/60 Day No Cause Eviction Notices
This morning in Olympia, Alouise of the Tenants Union of Washington joined with Greg Provenzano of Columbia Legal Services and other housing allies to testify in support of an important bill that would give tenants more time to deal with ‘no cause’ notices to terminate tenancy.
